CHANGE OF HEART epi 5

Victoria was startled when Mr. Gordy came in for his four o’clock. After all that had happened, she had forgotten he had an appointment.
Her heart sank a little when she remembered what Dr. Jacobs had said. He had predicted that his session with Mr. Harrison would run over. Victoria looked at Mr. Gordy’s expression, making a prediction of her own.

“Is the doctor running on time?” He asked. He glanced nervously at his watch. “I’m on a very tight schedule.”
“Well,” Victoria replied, “we will hope for the best.”
She felt mentally drained, and didn’t want to give him false hope. Mr. Gordy sighed and began to pace the floor.
Victoria began watching the clock herself. When Mr. Gordy had arrived it had been five minutes before four. The faint tic-tock seemed louder than normal. Tension filled the air as the patient stood, tapping his foot.
“I see it’s now one minute till,” Mr. Gordy commented.
“Yes, I see that,” Victoria answered. The closed door behind her remained silent as the minutes passed.
“It seems Dr. Jacobs is running behind,” he said.
The clock read a few minutes past four, and she nodded agreement.
“I will give the good doctor two more minutes,” Mr. Gordy announced. Seeming pleased with himself, he finally took a seat.
The silence was maddening. Victoria had never before wished for the phone to ring. Although she cautioned herself to be careful what she wished for. Mr. Gordy rose.
“It seems Dr. Jacobs is running late, and I must go. Is it too much to ask that people stay on schedule? I suppose I will reschedule, unless you have another suggestion.”
“Sir, you have to do what’s right for you,” she said. Victoria gave him a new appointment. He thanked her and went on his way. She exhaled and ran her hands through her shoulder length hair.
“What next?” She asked aloud. Victoria took down a note about what had happened with Mr. Gordy. With the day’s messages in front of her, she was suddenly amazed.
She realized the sign she had asked for was before her eyes. The direction she needed was on her desk, in her own handwriting.
